The Stem Cell Registry India (SCRI) was initiated by BMST in 2008 and re-launched with the cooperation of the international NGO, DKMS Germany (the single largest network of stem cell donor centres in the world), in 2014. The aim of the SCRI project is to improve the chances of recovery and the health outcomes of patients suffering from Leukemia, Thalassemia and other blood disorders for whom a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant offers a second chance at life. To do this the SCRI educates, recruits and registers voluntary potential blood stem cell donors. The project aims to recruit over 10,00,000 potential stem cell donors by 2020.
